8/3/2015 1 Comment A New Wardrobe For AngieThis spring I was busy working on a new wardrobe for a friend of mine named Mrs. Angie. She had several patterns and pieces of fabric that were given to her that she never did anything with. So one day she asked me if I would be willing to make her a few new outfits. Working together with Mrs. Angie was a true blessing and a great learning experience! She was very patient and cooperative, driving several miles in order to come to fitting sessions and over all was an amazing client (and a very beautiful model might I add)! Outfit #1 The first outfit I made for Mrs. Angie was a simple cotton day dress. It has a zipper closure in the back and the sleeves are lined in a white cotton. If you'll look closely you'll see the inseam pockets I added. Mrs. Angie is like me in that she loves pockets so I added them to the original dress using a pattern I drafted myself! Outfit #2 The second outfit consisted of a breezy blouse and a pair of elastic waist pants. The original pattern had lace on the top of the blouse but Mrs. Angie and I decided to use a gray broadcloth to cut down on the cost of materials. Honestly I think the broad cloth looks just as nice as lace would have and it added to the pattern of the bottom fabric helping to break up the design. The bottom fabric of the blouse is a printed cotton that has small flowers and green vines all over. I wish I had thought of getting a closer picture so you could see the design but since I didn't you'll just have to take my word on it when I say it's really pretty :). Here are the pants. My favorite part about them is that, while they are elastic in the waist the elastic is in the back leaving the front nice and smooth. I also love the pleats and the pockets. I think they add a bit of pizzazz to an otherwise simple pattern. Outfit #3 The last outfit I made is yet another top and a skirt. The top has a mandarin collar with two hook and eye closers in the back and topstitching. Unlike the other pieces I made this top didn't have any fitting issues. I finished it and it fit Mrs. Angie perfectly right off! The skirt is made with a drapy suit like material making it very twirly and, of course, has two inseam pockets on the sides.
So what do you think? Which outfit was your favorite? Would you like a new wardrobe for yourself? You can contact me in the comments below with your thoughts, or, if you would like to hire me for a sewing job visit my contact page HERE. Y'all have a wonderful day! Susan
