Since my last update on our company's newest filming project Literal many exciting things have been happening! If you have been following us on Indiegogo you probably already know a few of them. But since I'm the costume director, and this is a sewing blog, I thought you guys would like to know what's been going on in my little section on the Literal world:
The majority of costumes for this project have come from either a) a thrift store or b) the actor's personal closets. Since this is taking place in modern times that means I don't have to sew as much because we can basically find whatever we need from one of the two places mentioned above. Which means the time I would have spent sewing I can spend learning lines. But, on the flip side of the coin, that also means I don't have much to sew, which is depressing because I feel like I really haven't been "in charge" of the costumes because I didn't physically "make" any of them. But there are a few things I will have to make such as a judge's robe, a bow tie, a pair of red pants, a prison uniform, and a dress for my character Ann (because I wanted to make me a new dress so thus I'm making me one. Do you have a problem with that?) Even though I haven't done much sewing for Literal I have gotten quite a few things done around here:
1. I've gotten the character of Ann's complete wardrobe together (minus 2 outfits).
2. I've gotten several things from the thrift store for Doug Hoop's wardobe and soon I'll lay everything out and assign outfits to episodes.
3. We just had a meeting with a police officer (my new cousin-in-law) discussing and asking different questions about their uniforms and equipment.
4. I bought several costumes for other minor characters and (hopefully) soon I'll have a "try on" date with the actors.
I still have a LOT to get done so I better get started! As I mentioned before, I'll try to keep this blog updated as best I can, but with all that's going on, I may not be able to post about everything. P.S. Just as a teaser, if all goes well, my next update will be a costume "reveal" for one of the characters. I'll give you a hint as to who: you don't want to mess with this guy or you might end up in trouble with the law! Comment below on who you think it is!
